What happens on day of completion?

  • Yes that was the plan we've no where we could stay for a couple of days I may see if I can borrow the money a family member had previously agreed to pay the deposit and first months rent I think as they know we are getting a fair bit from the sale they'll be happy to help us its just the asking I don't like as it's a big ask.

Definitely worthwhile talking to that family member right away. If you operate under the assumption that the money won't make it to you on time (very possible) then you're not going to be facing the potential disaster: if your family member can't help then you could book a couple of days at a Travel Lodge, if the money does go through on the day you could cancel the Travel Lodge and get a refund (I think they give full refunds if you cancel in advance).
The agreement etc has already been signed and the date set for next Friday if I can borrow the money hopefully I could get the keys a day earlier will help when moving this whole sale has been a nightmare I cant wait for it to be over

My parents house sale completes on Friday too, a nightmare is a good way to describe their experience too. Good luck, I hope all goes okay :)

I hope all goes well for them.

I've just emailed my solicitor and am awaiting her advice, I'll also contact the estate agents I have the month and a half's deposit plus one months rent, I'll wait for the solicitors response but I might approach them and say worse case will they accept that and a letter from the solicitor saying she'll bacs the remaining 5 months across on completion and once all funds have been received.
