Cat with fractured "toe"

Afternoon,
Noticed 6 month old kitten limping this morning, so trip to the vets - and he has fractured the "toe" on one of his back legs and it needs amputating (also getting him neutered whilst he is under).
He is an outdoor farm cat, but the vet has advised that we need to keep him contained for 7-10 days. Going to get dog crate or such, but any tips or hints welcome!
