Used Ford Fusion 100,000+ mileage
I am looking at a 2003 Ford Fusion 1.4 TDCi 2 5dr Diesel Estate.
It has 145,000 miles on the clock. Is 145,000 high for this engine, and how will it hold up? Am I likely to experience problems with it, and what are some of the most common faults on an engine with this mileage?

It really depends on condition but mainly servicing and how the car has been used previously.
At 145k other things such as suspension components may start causing trouble...
Ultimately take it for a long test drive and see if it drives like a 145k miler..0 -
I hired a Ford Fusion once, that drove like a 145k miler.
It had less than 20k on the clock

DMF failure + Injector failure.
If the DMF has been done, if it was done with a budget non ford dealer parts run, the Ford kits have the bolts fitted, balanced, numbered and then sold packaged ready to fit, the budget ones just come as a box of bits with unbalanced bolts and usually don't last very long.
If the DMF has not been replaced at that mileage it is imminent and a bill of £1200+ awaits very shortly.
Injector failure is also on the list especially if some burke has put snake oil injector cleaner in to it which disolves the silicone washers inside the injectors .
Last is dashboard circuit failure which loses speed controller signal from the gearbox.Be happy...;)0 -
It's not a colossally high mileage for that age of car, but it is quite a lightweight, it's diesel engine was probably specced by its original owner for work use so I'd imagine it is not a pristine example now.
Should really be treated as a banger pricewise as it will start racking up the bills as it drifts into middle-age and your unlikely to find an eager buyer when you want to dispose of it.0 -
Parents had a Fusion. They hated it and sold it at a terrible loss financially and bought a Golf which that still have.
If its dirt cheap and you cant afford anything else then maybe.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
