Buyer making a claim for item not received but it was a collection only!

I sold a Music Centre with speakers a few weeks ago (for £10) which was listed as "Collection in Person". The buyer then notified me that he wanted me to package it for collection by a courier as he lives at least 100 miles away. I replied that I couldnt/wouldnt do this as firstly I didnt have a sturdy box that was big enough - the speakers are quite big and heavy. He then said he would look into a relative of his maybe picking it up.

After another couple of weeks, he has taken out a claim to say he hasnt received them. Then he rang me last night to say he would post a box to me so that I could package it up for a courier to collect!
Again I said I wasnt prepared to do this as I wanted to demonstrate to the buyer that it was working and also, I have an elderly relative who is at deaths door and am not able to go to all this trouble.

My question is - I have put my case to Paypal but they still say they are waiting on information from me. They want me to tick one of three boxes but none of them relate to a item that was to be collected in person. This is causing me unnecessary stress at a very difficult time in my life. Any advise please?

Just refund them and move on.

Do you need ebay ? Walk away....I'd rather freecycle my !!!!, than deal with Twunks. £10 ?

If he has opened a case, refund, you will get your FVF back.
Then block him and re-list.

end of day you stil have the item so give a refund - u can report buyer afterwards for making unreasonable shipping requests

PayPal ensure you have no chance but to refund regardless of blame etc. I have the CEO of PayPal email address and details of how to complain AND GET A RESPONSE as they are governed by CSSF and are starting to realise the FRAUDS happening!

Refund the report buyer.

I don't know what other option you expected - a 'keep the money and buy a few beers with it' button?

You did the right thing by refusing the allow the buyer to send a courier.

Refund him and next time in the listing write: 'cash on collection'

If you sell it again and they pay with Paypal immediately refund them - if you don't want to be paid with Paypal, mis-type your e-mail address..ie firstname@gmail.coc (note that there is no .coc domain so the payment can't be sent) - this will stop this sort of buyer mis-behaviour in the future.

Not a very helpful comment at a time when I am having to deal with someone about to die!! Apart from anything else, I dont drink but after this hassle I will probably be driven to it!!

Refund him, block him. Re-list. Don't think about it any more, its really not worth the effort, especially as you have your mind on other things.
