hi
i want to share my situation and hopefully see if anyone has had a similar issue with a positive outcome. im not sure what to do.
i purchased a car from vauxhall dealers and i recently discovered that they included the following in the finance package:
1. an extended warrenty £400.00 (unknown to me... i did not agree to take it out, yet they claim i have signed to do so)
2. tax disc for 1 year £175.00 - which will be more than that over the 4 years of the HP term
3. car polish £240.00 - apparently they cleaned and polished the car before it was sold to me, yet charged me for the pleasure:mad:
i spoke to company, they promised to get back to me... i heard nowt. i emailed complaint to custormer services.... i heard nowt.... i contacted HQ who have now pushed GM to contact me to resolve my issues.... im now seeing him next weekend after 2 and a half months of a wall of silence from them.
i want to know that if its true that i unknowing signed to take out the extended warrenty which i would NEVER have agreed to do if it was offered, what can i do about this? i am considering legal action but want to pre-empt the conversations with the GM next week. i dont think he was ever going to contact me had HQ not pushed him to contact me today. Any thoughts or comments would be greatfully appreciated.

Did you get a copy of the finance agreement when you arranged the purchase? If so, this should all be listed on there. If not, go back to the dealer and ask to see all the documentation. He should be able to show you documents you have signed to agree to all these 'extras'.
If there are documents listing the warranty and polish and you have signed them, then you have been careless and hopefully will have learned a lesson. If there are no such documents (or the ones you did sign do not show the breakdown of the sum) then you are in a strong position to dispute them.
I hope you kept records of time and dates of all calls, and who you spoke to, plus all the emails and replies. If it gets to an argument, it's better to have all your ducks in a row now rather then later. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -

You either signed for those things or you didn't. Which is it?0 -
ie did you read the paperwork small print before signing or not0
-
Be realistic. No one really asked you to sign - more than once, a blank sheet of paper. All of the details will have been itemised and came to the total that you signed for. Don't expect buyer regret to spring you a refund.0

Why mention road tax over the 4 years? Do you expect them to pay for that too?0
-
I blame the PPI companies. "I was mis-sold" is becoming the new rallying cry for anybody suffering buyers remorse.0

I don't understand the tax issue either. Is it a low tax car and you are saying it should only be £35 per year?
Like everyone else has said- check the breakdown of costs on the paperwork, if they are not there (an old trick) then pursue the complaint, if they are listed correctly......0 -
Read what you signed.Be happy...;)0

I suspect the tax issue is that the OP got the trader to tax and now realises that service is rolled into the finance agreement and just noticed that they will indeed be financing that first tax disc for the whole of the finance period.0
