Footway parking - London Borough - paid but want to appeal?

Hi all, looking for some advice please. A relative received a PCN last week for parking two wheels on the kerb with no bay marked - this is common practice on their road as there used to be bays there (never were signs to specify where to park though, just they received a letter telling them to use bays) but when pavements were resurfaced maybe 2 years ago the bays were not replaced (no further letter to say they wouldn't be reinstated).
They paid the charge, then found out other people who received the same ticket in the same road by the same means had appealed and had the appeal allowed, so they've drafted a plea to the council and asked me to check it but I wonder if it's worth the effort? Would it also benefit if they have the ticket no.'s of those who appealed? This is their first parking ticket and they're hoping the council will take a lenient view but don't want to get their hopes up if they've shot themselves in the foot by paying!
Thanks in advance

I have never heard of an appeal upheld after payment.
It is an admission of liability and usually the end of the matter.Be happy...;)0 -
The ticket has been paid, it's the end of the matter you can't appealWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.
