Lovebird laid egg, help!

Hello

I've a pair of lovebirds and one has laid an egg and is sitting on it, I've no idea what to do! Anyone had this before?

Leave the egg/s in there until the mother has finished laying them all-taking them away early tends to stimulate them into laying more to replace them. Ideally just leave them there until she gets bored of sitting on them. If you don't want babies, then you can buy fake eggs to replace them with, or you can freeze/shake/otherwise prevent the (probably) fertilized eggs from hatching.

If you aren't planning on having her hatch any eggs, you should try to reduce the amount of things that will trigger her hormonally. Egg laying is rather hard on the hen. Don't provide them with a nest (they don't need one, though probably will try to make one anyway!), give them a minimum of twelve hours of darkness every night, etc. Make sure the hen has access to calcium, such as a cuttlefish, if she doesn't already. :)

Thank you. They have cuttle fish and don't have a next, now the days are getting longer I'll start covering them at night so they get 12 hours min!

I don't gave time to help them rear babies! Thank you!
