Windows Phone/O2 problem

i've got a nokia lumia 520 on PAYG and i've been trying to get into the My O2 area
when i go to view something like 'recent charges' it tells me to disconnect from my wifi. i do that and then it tries to connect to the internet which ive just turned off!!!
could someone enlighten me? hows it supposed to work if i turn the internet off?
p.s meant to say i have asked the o2 gurus and theyre nice and everything but the one i got clearly didnt know what i was talking about!

Yep, not 100% sure myself! Does your PAYG have a data use option or is just voice?0

it may be that i dont need to use that area, being on PAYG, but it would be nice if the message wasnt so ridiculously contradictory.
