Hit and Run - Three cars

Options
Dear All

I was hit by a car in the rear and my car bumped into a car in front.

Luckily we were not at high speed.

The car hit me failed to stop and run away. I was shocked and could not note the reg number.

Police could not trace the car either.

The car I bumped into claiming against MIB or against my insurance?

I am puzzled, insurance company is holding me liable even though it was not my fault?

Thank you.

Might be worth contacting the local borough/city/county councils, to see if they have CCTV cameras in the area (on buildings, bridges or traffic lights, etc.) which might have recorded the incident?

Long shot, but worth a try.

Sorry to hear of the accident, hope all turns out well. x

They wouldn't use the MIB as they know who hit them, so they will claim off your insurance.

It doesn't matter whether someone hit you, unfortunately you will have to claim off the person who hit you.
  • Thank you, so who is at fault does not matter MIB here is not relevant?

Either the Motor Insurers’ Bureau or the Men In Black. One of the two.

Does your policy have legal cover? Your insurance company should be making an effort to track down the criminal who drive off. The police should be investigating, as after all it is a crime.

Also, this is a good reason to get a dash camera. Even if you only had a front one it would show that you were not at fault.
