ATOS Assesment for ESA

Hi, I have been on ESA for a while and have had 3 previous medicals, all won on appeal. I have been re called for re assessment this week although I have not had the usual ESA50 to fill in prior to this. How can they asses me without any up to date medical information? The last form sent in was approx. 2yrs ago. Is this correct procedure ??????

  • Hi, thanks for your response, I agree there is no point of these forms but as I only received the letter Sat morning I have no time to gather info from doctors etc.......so what will they be basing it on !!!! Old information no doubt ...oh well another few months of trying to get it sorted out and appeal beckons....again

At face value this does sound unusual... it is possible they sent one and it was not received. I would be inclined to query with ATOS why you didn't receive an ESA50 form to complete and mention that the immediacy of the appointment has left you without time to gather evidence (and support if you wanted such to attend).

    Try customer-relations@atoshealthcare.com
email that with your details (including Ni No) and ask for clarifications I would suggest.

I would be tempted to take and present any evidence you do have at medical that supports a claim that various descriptors apply to you.. and perhaps cheekily take the last appeal judgement and present that especially if claiming the same descriptor(s) apply. It's a game.

Personally from what I know, there isn't really any point in filling out one of those forms, ATOS hardly ever read it anyhow.
If you do have any evidence you should send it direct to the DWP.

they do look at the ESA50 form

have you not phoned the DWP to see why they have not sent you out an ESA50 form ? they might be able to give you more information on this or for you to get some clarification of why they have done this way.

its not unheard of for the DWP to send you for a medical without sending the ESA50 form out to claimants so it might be best to check with them first if you need more time to get evidence together call them and re arrange the appointment

    That's a very scaremongering comment.

They read mine and talk all medical evidence into account.

Well aren't you the lucky one. In my ATOS assessment they couldn't as I didn't have time to complete it or send or take any evidence either.
Considering that this thread is about an assessment without an ESA50 having been completed, my comments are very much related.
Also given the many complaints that we hear about ATOS not taking into consideration what is said at the assessment, or the evidence handed over or indeed what was shown on the ESA50, it is doubtful that they actually read and inwardly digest the contents before the assessment takes place.

Calm down! I think all the poster was trying to say is don't post stuff that could give someone an irrational fear of the process.

Yes everyone has good and bad experiences. Only an idiot would say they didn't.
  • Thank you to everyone who has responded to my question. My appointment is at 9.30 tomorrow so it will be interesting to see what they say about the lack of info from ESA50. I will take all my medication and also my last appeal paperwork (good idea ,I hadn't thought of that ) so thank you all and I will update this thread tomorrow .

They will probably have an ESA 113 Report completed by your Gp.

Make sure to request a copy of the medical report from the DWP.. number on DWP ESA letters. They should get that pretty quickly from ATOS... it's the ESA85 ATOS medical report... perhaps request it some time next week. Might give you forewarning of decision likely and chance to get and submit to DWP any supporting medical evidence you feel necessary.
