Android TV sticks - worth getting?

Hi all,

My other half purchased a TV for the bedroom which is a bit 'vanilla'. It looks nice which is the main thing! ;) Having opted to not spend an extra £20 or so on the TV which had tons of features (wifi, Smart etc.) I'm considering getting the extra features with an Android TV stick.
This is what I'm hoping to have in the device:

1) Wifi built in (seems to be the norm)
2) Ability to access videos (mkv/mp4 etc.) stored on a DLNA network drive downstairs.
3) Ability to install an apk video player app which works with a streaming internet box I have downstairs connected to the Tivo so I can watch/control the Tivo from upstairs.
4) Potentially the ability for screen mirroring from an Android phone. I have a Galaxy S3 and it supports Allshare Cast, her Galaxy S3 Mini doesn't. This worked nicely in Currys!

Looking at the cheapy sticks you can get on eBay and from China that are around £12-25. They state they support 'iPush' and DLNA and reference variants of Android Market/apk installs etc.
I know there are dual core/quad core variants. Anyone had any experience with them? Are they worth getting?
