Due to a change in personal circumstances, the car I am currently using and insured on is going to be sold.

My mum currently leases a car privately as an individual in her name, is it possible for myself (her son) to get insured on it?

My current insurance ends 1st october, the lease for that car ends 28th September so it works out well.

If she leases it and she is responsible for insurance then I don't see why you couldn't be added as a named driver. Unless there's any clause in the lease.

Yes, the lease is definitely in her name, and she is insured in her name also. Do you mean added as a named driver on the insurance, or on the lease? Will have to check the lease paperwork.

This is where it gets more complicated. She is insured as a named driver on my dad's business policy (he runs a car workshop, so can drive any car etc.). Where as I need it for business use as well, so can't really be a named driver on that policy, just in case of an accident during business use (I don't work at my dad's company).

I think you are over-thinking this.

If you just want to drive her car then get added to her insurance.

I don't know why you are also thinking about the lease being in her name, what else she can drive and what insurance your dad has.
