Ok thanks for the reply here are the reading given to me by the caretaker when I can find him over last few months

    13 OCT
    1 02273
    2 [STRIKE]0[/STRIKE]13878
    T 16151

    28 NOV
    1.02300
    2.[STRIKE]0[/STRIKE]14038
    T.16338

    16 JAN
    1 02442
    2 14913
    T 17355

    27 feb
    R1 02615
    R2 15371
    T 17987

I also have a bill from EON for £65ish from when I moved in early october to end of november, the only Thing i was doing this time Is decorating the flat, radio, kettle, light 2/3 nights a week

The readings from npower on the bill I have are

    Day
    29 nov - our estimate 14178
    6 feb - our reading 14879
kwh used over 70 days 701 at 17.5p this cost £123.24

    Night

    29 november our estimate 2307
    6 feb Our reading 3163
    kwh used 856 @ 5.8p this cost £50.33

    total kwh used 1557

    standing charge £15.12

    vat £9.43
The first thing that shows up here is that someone is reading the wrong meter. You need to check the meter being read, compare it to the meter serial number on the bill and check that it is actually the one that supplies your flat. You need to find which register, R1 or R2, is actually the day and night supply. What timer did you adjust, it can not be the supply timer as that is set by the regional authority ?

But it says our reading (The estimates I gave them) as readings

also looking at the readings, if anything my bill would be higher

I just have not used that much electricity because its a small flat/bedsit

and I'm here 3/4 days a week, I barely even use the storage heating because I'm always hot anyway

"Our Reading" should be by their meter reader, how come it is lower than the readings from the caretaker, why is the opening read an estimate and why again is it different from the read from 28th Nov ? Have you turned the storage heaters off at the wall ? You are not going to get anywhere until you sort out if the meter being billed is yours, it is often the case that meters in flats are labelled wrongly. We have had many cases here where the supplier and database thinks it is one meter, the occupant / caretaker thinks it is another and neither is the case.

This meeting with ATOS, is it a routine re-assessment? If so, these were supposed to be deferred until further notice from 20 Jan 2014 so why have you got one? Unfortunately, as a new user I cannot post the link for this but google

Atos quietly dropped from carrying out repeat reassessments by DWP, internal memo shows.

    and check out the results.

As the OP sent their form back before this date, they would still be subject to assessment.

macman said : You need to understand how E7 works. You cannot possibly hope to heat any property for £360-£600 a year, it's simply not realistic.

    How E7 works

    - E7 works by having as many units as possible used on the night [3163 kwh used 856 @ 5.8p this cost £50.33] register
    - and as little as possible on the day register [14879 kwh used over 70 days 701 at 17.5p this cost £123.24]
    - to achieve a good balance with SP you need between 20-30% of all units to be on the night [5.8p per kW] register
    - to do this your night store space heaters and night store water heater needs to be turned on
    - at this time of the year the night store space heaters will be set very very low or off
    - the next 6 months will cost virtually nothing for night store space heaters as they will be switched off
    - the entire 12 months will cost for the night store water heater if left switched on

    Payment Plan

    - your [frugal] annual cost will be around £1200+ you need to ÷ that by 12 and set up a payment plan of £100pm every month
    - come to an agreement with your supplier, pay what you owe, start and maintain the above payment plan

I have assumed the readings to be the correct meter, and the correct readings at 90% [ish] of costs on the high register. I've assumed that the 3 months in the flat through even this mild winter was not unheated and the figures suggest all heat was from the day [17.5p per unit + 26ppd service charge x 150 days which is about £39] register.

Is that right about ATOS ? i sent my forms in back in Dec, not heard anything till the other day but now they want to see me in 2 weeks, I've been screwed both times and had to go to court to get it overturned twice, the back pay is nice but the struggle for 12 months while waiting on next to no money was hard, now I have my own place will be impossible almost with all the bills

I really want to get back to work but I simply wouldn't last a week at moment as got too many health problems

The story about ATOS was carried in a few newspapers, as I said, I cannot post links at the moment as I'm too new to this site.

Looking at the readings you provided, the day and night usage are not very far off each other and this is what has caused the problem. It will be the period where the timer was set incorrectly.

Unfortunately, if you approach the Social Housing provider they will just say how do we know you didn't do it?". In my bitter experience they would rather sell their own children than admit they may have got something wrong in a handover. This should have been checked before giving you the property though.

It looks like the only way to get this sorted will be to work out some kind of repayment plan with the energy company. Before doing that though, as quoted above make sure you are being billed from the correct meter as the readings from the supplier and caretaker do not make sense.
  • ATOS has no place in this energy subgroup. ATOS issues have been be posted / discussed for years in the correct area of MSE, there are millions of words posted in this group reference ATOS.

ATOS and their reps did have their own exclusive group here for a year - NOTE it the group is now U/S and abandoned !

    Cheers for the replies Guys
I have rung them today waited ages, been told 45 mins so left my number for a callback, never came this is 3rd time I've tried to contact them.

Just got another reading and my day read seems about right but my night one is 2673 which is a lot less than there 3163 that is supposed to be their reading from 6th of feb ??? no idea what is going on but no way I can afford £200 for 2 months electric, everyone else seems to be around £50 mac p/m in this block of similar size flats, and previous tenant was paying roughly that

The clock on the boiler thing being wrong may have hiked up the day charges but I don't see how thats my fault when I wasn't explained how this worked nor did I set the clock, I only changed it when I got a torch and decided to see why a light was coming on at 5/6 pm (I now know this should have been 2/3 am) but the clock was set wrongly

    New readings today are

    20 march

    1- 02673
    2- 15465
    T- 18139

Looking like quite a lot of day usage since last bill and 500kwh less than my last bill for nightime usage, its bloody confusing all this, and economy 7 was meant to be cheap?

I did answer you question and I wasn't being sarcastic, I would be a lot more blunt if I was, I was saying cheers for your advice, as you were correct, if it sounded like I couldn't be bothered to waste 20 mins but it was more complicated than that, plus I have tried 3 times to contact them as well

Its more like 30/40 mins and I do not have the credit on my phone to waste, I tried to get a callback but nothing...no doubt if I clicked the option # for ''pay your bill'' they will answer a bit quicker.
