small box trailer theft>

Was curious if a trailer was more or less likely to get pinched than a car. I plan on getting one and parking it up on an estate parking facility. I can chain it to a lamp post.

Phoned up self storage facilities in the area and all their outdoor storage sites are taken.

I had a box trailer for a few years although it was mainly parked on a drive. I seem to remember that the brakes could be padlocked on and the tow hitch could also be locked with a padlock. I had my car broken into once at home but never had any problem with the trailer parked next to it.

I've got a small trailer which is parked up out on my drive. I've jacked it up, taken one wheel off, (on an axle stand) which is in the garage. I can't imagine many would-be thieves carry a spare wheel with them.

Thanks I'm hoping that I can use a bay to stack in a trailer and car and pay less on parking permit. Seen a 3 row funeral car parked in a bay so it should be OK if my cars nose sticks out of the council parking bays.

If a thief wants it - they'll take it.

I had a trailer stolen in Birkenhead - crowbarred off the tow vehicle, despite a hitch lock.

I would recommend a motorcycle security hardened chain around the draw-bar and to a lamp-post.

Yup. I would need something to weigh down the trailer while it's being towed. I think a heavy chain would serve as a useful tool for both functions very well.

Depends on the design of the towbar. Some have gaps to feed a chain through
    and some don't.

No point in feeding it through a part that unbolts.

As Iceweasel said. If they want it there is nothing you can do to stop them.

They will take it. Chains are easily cut. Most parts on a trailer will unbolt or be easier to cut than the chain.
