Online Banking Systems

I have always had bank accounts with Natwest as that's the bank that was in the village I grew up in. I also have a Nationwide savings account that my parents set up for me for them to pay into when i was a child.
Natwest online banking is fine, and nationwide is a bit of a pain, but mainly because i can never remember my customer number.
I want another bank account to be able to separate the money I allocate myself for spending from the money paying off my current account overdraft with natwest.
Which banks have a decent online banking system?
Wondering about
HSBC
Lloyds
TSB
Halifax
as those are the ones in my local town
Thanks x

The customer number thing with NW is a complete pain! I rarely log on with them online anymore - I use the phone app instead so there's no need for me to remember the customer number at all.0

I love First Direct, but of course they don't have branches.0

Ooh thanks, I forgot about first direct...I don't really need to use a branch as I will mostly be banking online anyway, and they are meant to have very good customer service. Think I might apply for one with them...tho it's a shame I won't be able to take advantage of the £100 as I'll only be putting in my personal spending money each month!Debt FREE thanks to YNAB0

Ugg just seen that first direct will charge £10 a month if I don't pay in £1000 per monthDebt FREE thanks to YNAB0

HSBC online is good... Managing DD's and SO's is really easy and transferring money is too. You get one of the little security keypads to log onto it so it's very secure too.
My Wife has Natwest so we do have to use the customer number - i remember numbers well so i've never had an issue with it other than the fact it's easy to "get around"... Never feels as secure as HSBC.It all takes time and time is money,
money talks and talk is cheap.

Halifax and Santander are OK. Both use multi detail login's - always baffles me when people want easy access to their bank - if it's easy for you, it's easy for someone else too
Santander's is more complex than Halifax's but they are both OK.
OP, not sure why you added "in my local town", if you want an online only account then no need to worry about if they have a local branch or notApril 2008 - Epiphany - At least £28K owed to 5 CC's
[STRIKE]Mint (3k)[/strike] - Paid Dec 2010
[strike]Egg (2K)[/strike] - Paid 2009
[STRIKE]Barclaycard (5K)[/strike] - Paid Jan 2013
[strike]FirstDirect (11k)[/strike] - Paid June 2013
MBNA [strike](8K)[/strike]/£4183 -August 2014 -Resurrection - MBNA to be paid in full 8/14 :j0 -

My thoughts exactly... I feel the same about mobile phone apps. We have emails, Facebook, banking... Everything... All available on our phone - and yet, do we *always* log out of them?....?It all takes time and time is money,
money talks and talk is cheap.

I'm not sure why I added that either....I suppose I was going for a virtual walk down my high street trying to remember what banks are there!
I dont want easy access to online banking, I just dont want it to stupidly complicated - I've heard tesco for example, they send you a text with a unique code each time you want to log in and with sketchy mobile service round here I wouldnt want to have to rely on that.
Natwest you have a customer number and a pin and a password that you enter digits or letters from as it asks you. I was looking for something similar.
I find natwest easy to remember as the customer number is your date of birth with 4 other digits.
In the end I've taken up nationwide's offer of a flex account as I already have a savings account with them. Its been approved so just got to wait for all the paperwork to come through now. Plus it means I'll start using the savings account again as it gets ignored at the moment with about £8 inside! Think I just need to findout what my customer number is for them and I'll be up and running

I use First Direct's "Internet Banking Plus" service to store my log on details for all my accounts with different banks, even though I don't actually bank with First Direct!
