Hello all, I put a claim in to my bank (santander) on the 26th july 2012 which they said receive on the 27th july in a letter which I have got. I have all the letter's they send out and as my loan was 2005, they said they do not keep information that far back, but santander had information to say they send a letter informing me that I was able to make a claim and I did not reply. So I went to the Financial Ombudsman and they (looked) at it and they said that santander more than likely send a letter, so they would not be looking at the claim again. To me this was on fair, as I worked for a company at the time of the loan.

Santander were one of the first to issue what are now known as CCLs. This is a warning that you had PPI and that it may have been mis-sold and if you want to complain about it, then you should do so. They actually issued these before many people had even heard of PPI as being an issue.

This allows them, under FCA guidelines, to start the 3 year timebar clock. Once you get past three years, they are allowed to timebar you from any complaint and the FOS can take no action as long as the time bar letter is satisfactory.

So, its game over in your case as the FOS are satisfied that the time bar has been applied correctly.
