Hi all,
Just wanted some advice really. Its our first proper big house move tomorrow. We are using a removal company - who have so far been excellent, professional and helpful even though we have had to chop and change the dates to get the place we want!
We are almost there with the packing I will be finishing off this afternoon flying around like a mad man!
Just wondered how to play it with the removal guys presume we just let them empty the property and we just go round cleaning the rooms as they empty them? We don't need to help them with any boxes to the lorry?!
cheers

Separate a box with t bags milk cleaning stuff kettle etc and take that in the car with you along with any personal belongings you don't want in the removal van
They will do all the lifting ! Good luck for tomorrow0 -
I would add - loo roll (there might not have been one left at the new house), a selection of screwdrivers (for dismantling things/putting things back together), a couple of plastic bags (for odd things that get left behind, or last minute rubbish). Also personal stuff - you don't want them to pack all your coats - you'll need one to wear on moving day - or your handbag, also it's handy to have a plate and mug per person for meals.
Have fun!!No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
The only thing I am struggling with at the moment is that I seem to have too many big boxes and have run out of small ones. now we have been going along the lines that heavy things in the small ones and bulky things in the bigger boxes. but have just got a few glasses to go so I would say I really need maybe another 3 small boxes. I was going to ask the removal company if the guys could bring a few small ones tomorrow then we give them back an equal number of large ones that we have not used! It wont take us a moment to put the last things in as they are all wrapped up here on the table!0

Or use one of the large boxes with bedding as protection and then the bedding is packed too.0

Just shove the small things in the emptier big box - maybe with a pillow or something to protect them/fill the gap.
If it's not nailed down, they will pack it on the van - so keep whatever you need to keep separate in your car or somewhere out of the way. And that goes for handsoap, toilet roll, teabags, anything!
