Gibraltar wedding - places to go for meal?

Hi everyone

Just after some advice/recommendations please?

Him indoors and I have decided to get hitched in Gibraltar. We're having it in the registry office, small and no fuss, but then are looking to go for a meal afterwards. There will be no more than 15 of us.

I'm going over later in the year to check places out, but just wondered on personal experience (as I was 14 last time I went!) if anyone can recommend a restaurant/hotel etc that could offer a post wedding meal for us? Nothing fancy!

Out of curiosity, why choose Gibraltar if you dont know it?

I spent a lot of time in Gibraltar as a child and as I say, the last time I was there was 15 odd years ago so I am assuming it has changed a bit!
As to why, we both love Spain and as a couple and a family since our son was born we've spent many a holiday there. As you can't legally wed in other parts of Spain unless its a religious ceremony (boo hiss!), Gibraltar seems the next best place!!

We are getting married in Gibraltar in August (so excited!!) :j

There's only going to be 10 of us and we are going to Charlie's in Ocean Village. It's got a very extensive menu and it has a lovely terrace. There are plenty of lovely resturants to be honest but want it to be fairly laid back. It also has great reviews and whenever we try to get a table there when we are on holiday it's full, so that says something to me :cool:

One reason could be the climate, it will probably be drier and warmer than any other part of Britain.

Remember Gibraltar is just 2.5sq miles at the southern tip of the Iberian peninsula, the remainder is currently under occupation by Spain and Portugal.

I hope you are flying in - the queuing at the Spanish border crossing is dire and very unromantic.

There is a nice restaurant at Catalan Bay. Can't remember what it is called. It is just where you would drop down to the beach, 200 yards approx before Caletta Hotel - which also does good food - but pricey

My daughter got married in Gib 4 years ago and had a 'pool party' at the Elliot Hotel, we had the pool to ourselves and a fabulous buffet meal, just what the doctor ordered for a bright hot summer's day! There were no more than a dozen of us!
