  • We have three claims (2 identity protection and one card protection) on our policies post 2005 via the official scheme. Hoping to hear soon re these. Also contacted CPP direct re the card protection policy whcih started in 2001 - looking to claim back the money in this policy from them direct between 2001 and 2005. Had a telephone conversation with Customer Relations guy and he said that they were not liable as there was no regulation of their business at that time. Looks from the above posts tha Santander have taken a different view - have posters had redress pre 2005 from sanatander? I am going to send this to the Ombudsman as I disagree with CPP - would be useful if other banks have coughed up so i can include this in my letter to the Ombudsman.

Received my offer from Nationwide on Wednesday, they are refunding my payments (plus interest) made between 1993 and 2005. I wasn't expecting that!

    Hopefully hear from CPP soon.

Posted my CPP form off yesterday for the 2005 onwards, but what can be done about getting CPP payments back pre-2005 if I had an Egg card? Is this via Canada Square like the PPI claims?

Just answered my own question, hope this helps others :)

I contacted CPP regarding two accounts I have under the compensation scheme and they had written to advise me that I may be entitled to a refund of premiums.

As I had no knowledge of having either account I wrote and requested the bank details.

One came back as CITI and another was EGG .
Both had the same address to write regarding pre 2005 so I wrote to both .
Since then I have received confirmation that the complaints are being investigated .

Citi after bombarding me with three letters for proof of change of address have now written and upheld my complaint and will be paying me 227.00 back .
Also they quoted that 2005 onwards will be dealt under the CPP compensation scheme and I will have to wait for the outcome .

EGG wrote one letter stating they are investigating pre 2005 and will notify me of the decision within 8 weeks .

Both these are being handled by the Worthing address.

    Hi

I would be interested to see if we can make claiming from the banks easier.

I have had to get the ombudsmans involved - My bank is playing hardball .

I also would like to know for those have who managed to get refunds which banks/building society's have coughed up and for what reason?
  • They all have, usually you just need a verifiable, valid complaint reason.
