"Spring is in the air and the country is finally on the move.

With prices on the up and set to increase more, there is a greater sense of urgency among buyers, and as an increasing number of them are existing home-owners, the supply of property for sale is starting to increase to meet growing buyer demand.

The mass property market is starting to unlock after years of being handcuffed by fragile consumer confidence and a lack of low-deposit mortgages.

The result is a new national asking price record, driven by a mortgage market that allows pent-up demand to be released combined with a welcome economic recovery.”

Good.

And exactly as predicted, rising prices are delivering a supply response and unlocking the frozen market, enabling more people to buy and sell.

It's been discussed on here often enough that this should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone.

    Great news indeed.

As for how long it will last, we've not even completed the recovery yet, and we've then got to have the next boom/bust cycle.

So barring unpredictable external events like the global financial crisis, the next peak based purely on demographics and supply/demand should be in the mid to late 2020's.

So what you are saying there is, definitely, definitely going to go up, by quite a lot more for quite a long time
    but actually might not

Reducing disposable income, for many, for the foreseeable future will put a brake on rampant price increases for the bulk of the country.

Dual incomes are already required in many areas, what next triple incomes?

Once the pent up demand has gushed reality will take hold.

How long before the Council Tax Genie escapes with a vengance? Necessary living costs aren't going to fall. Taxes will increase.

30% down and falling steadily. Meanwhile his rent is now negative, with the landlord so desperate to keep him that he's paying banner to stay on.

So why then, do we need HTB to provide supply?! ;)
