This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all :hello:
It is unknown for me to be awake quite this early, but I was having an awful dream and I am now awake lay in bed watching the news. My OH went to work at 4.50pm again today.
No weather to report as it is still dark out
snoozer happy birthday for yesterday.
Made a curried carrot soup last night which will be my lunch today, tomorrow and possibly Thursday - recipe I got from my dad.
I also made some fudge which is for Mother's Day but as I hadn't made it before made a week ahead as it keeps in a container but gave me time incase it went wrong - tasted good to me.
Work today from 9am as usual, might shift myself and Hoover upstairs and sort the kitchen cupboard out that I have been meaning to & get some breakfast.
Happy Tuesday Everyone :jChristmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Good morning to newthrift and all that follow
I never managed to catch up on the thread yesterday, as did not get home until 8pm. Hope tonight is considerably earlier.
Happy belated birthday snoozer. I always think of my mum and dad on their birthdays, mothers and fathers day, Christmas and my own birthday. Even after all this time, there is a sense of something missing but the grief does eventually convert to happy memories. Love and hugs to you and your family x
YS venison burgers for dinner with mock cauliflower colcannon and some broccoli. Managed to lose 1kg last week so need to keep it up.
Better get a move on.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need them or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all
Fish fed, hubby has a cuppa & I've had a boiled egg, hubby's shifts are still all over the place.
Waves to Molly & LW.
DD's tumble dryer & washing line both broke on the same day so my line is full of her washing as is my maiden.
Off to work soon to continue the battle for paper, paper clips & other sundries that I feel are necessary to my job, but the powers that be see as an unnecessary expense.
Conversation with hubby last night & I realised he thought I could work for another 10 years! no chance, I struggle with all the lifting already, he obviously didn't understand why I was trying to get the mortgage down & was just agreeing out of politeness, lol. I laid out my long term plan once again, this time I think he was listening, he lets me do what ever I want anyway.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good Morning everyone bit grey looking at the moment outside but dry at least which is such a blessing after all the rain this winter.
Happy Birthday for yesterday snoozer hope you had a lovely day.
This morning I have the U3A coffee morning at Dobbies.I have a Dobbies card so I get two free coffees a month so a free latte for me this morning:):)Then tonight is quiz night at the pub and my favourite night of the week:):) we do have such a good time there and the people are really friendly .We rarely win but just enjoy the sociability of it.As I drive, I have a coffee there which I don't mind at all.We also get a supper as well so no cooking for me tonight, its usually some pasta or a jacket spud or on occassiones it will be a small curry with rice but at £2.00 incuding the quiz its pretty good value. So my night out costs me £3.20
:) I'm a cheap date aren't I
:):)
Tomorrow is D day as I see my consultant and he will tell me hopfully when I get my reconstruction Op. fingers crossed:):):)
Right time to get a move on as I have a dog to walk and grandchildren to get off to school first
Have a good day whatever you are up to

Morning All
Another wet day here in the West of Scotland! Quite breezy too.
DD painted the ceiling in DS2s room yesterday which is a fantastic help, don't think she's ever done anything like that before and she made a good job.
Carpet fitter was asked to come at 3.30, he had been and gone when I got home at 3.20! Anyway he measured up and I went down to choose a carpet which is all ordered and will be fitted next week. Need to get the painting finished by then.
I heard from Ds2 this morning, he is in Kuala Lumpar and feeling quite a lot better.
Anyway, hugs to you all, especially Molly and LW. Take care. XX0 -
Thanks to Hester and Camelot for thinking of me xx
Snoozer - Happy Belated Birthday - my thoughts are with you xx
Very busy weekend - we have found somewhere for my parents to move to (which my mother loves - what a feat!) and there has been a lot of interest in their house, with lots of viewings. Please keep sending up "moving vibes" to the powers that be !
Molly Doggy is very puppyish now her B12 is back to normal and her Zylkie tablets are working. She misses DD very much and was wandering around like a lost sole in the middle of the night (DD went back yesterday), with me stumbling after her (recipe for disaster?). Anyway snuggled her into DD's stinky bed and she was snoring within seconds. I was going to change that bed but it can wait until DD comes back for Easter - I will just close the door and open the window:eek::eek::eek:
Hugs and loves xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Now light, very cloudy overcast with a bit of a chill in the air but dry. Washing on the line, not actually sure it’s a good idea and that it will get dry but at least I’ve tried.
DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, onion sauce, mash, peas, green beans and egg. Dessert was ice cream or treats from the tins for those that had room. Tonight the menfolk are having scampi, chips and peas, I’ll be having fish, jacket potato and veg.
Work yesterday was busy but steadily busy - continually – so the day passed quite quickly. The council tax bills are now hitting the mats so that always generates work for us and people coming in asking why they have to pay! And, of course, moaning about how much it is.
Still feeling a bit brighter – but this seems to be much easier if I keep myself busy – it’s when I’m not busy or trying to chill that I then get the overwhelming feeling and then start to have the CBA mood, which then means nothing gets done. Just pottering along at the moment seems to be helping so will continue with that.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning all.
Sorry I've not posted of late, had a lot going on here with my youngest due to his autism/globaldelay etc. if you have me on Facebook you will know the saga!
Anyhow for those who don't, I am going to be taking him out of mainstream schooling into a special needs school. His school have said they can't really cope with his needs. I had already decided he needed an SN school anyway. Plus I've beenchasing up appointments. It's all fight, fight, fight.
All my fighting has also sent the black dog away, so that's good news.
Today I need to give the house a good tidy up. It's "ok" but now I can concentrate on giving it a good going over.
I also want to get into gardening. I have a blank canvass here. And space to grow veggies!
Right, must rush off & get youngest ready for school. The older 2 have already been dispatched!
Hope you all have a good day
Love, hugs & spoons xxxx0 -
Mrs Mortenharket, I hope it all goes well for you and your son.
Mollie, moving vibes duly sent, I hope it happens soon.
We had a lovely meal last night and the two waiters on duty were really great. At the end of the meal one asked if it was a special occasion and offered me a glass of champagne. When I declined because I don't drink wine he took the cost of the dessert we shared off the menu.
Lots of housework and sewing to do today. I'm listening to Wolf Hall on audio at the moment and loving it (I've read the book and loved it but listening adds to it). It's amazing how different narrators can make or break an audio book.
I've decided to try to get a working treadle sewing machine for the Yorkshire house, which is Victorian so I'm keeping my eye on ebay.

Morning all,
where has all the sunshine gone? I'm cold and at this rate I can see me putting the heating on again.
Mrsmortenharket, glad you've chased the black dog away. Only problem is, you've sent him this way.:( I really hope you get a place for your son at a special needs school. My middle son had a 2 day placement at a special needs school for 6 months. The medicine he was taking for epilepsy knocked him for 6 and I'm just thankful he was only on it for 2 years.
Ive stripped our bed a day early (Wednesday is usually my bedding day) but whilst I have no washing I thought I'd vacuum the matress and wash not only the sheet and duvet, I'd wash the pillows and quilt too.
Chicken breasts for tea tonight I think. Not sure what I'm doing with it yet though. Don't think I can face mash two nights in a row.
