Mistaken Scottish Power given £800 in credit

Hello!
We noticed Scottish Power has confused our economy 7 rates and given the cheap rate during the day instead of during the night. This has left us in credit of £800, which was a surprise as we are usually £400 in deficit over winter. My husband told them of their error and we are due to hear back from them in due course, annoying as our fixed price plan ends this month so we need to get accurate figures for our switch. A friend said they should leave the money as it was their mistake, they have to be favourable to us. Is there any truth in that??? We noticed the mistake occured after our last meeting reading in November.
Thank you in advance for any useful info!!!

With the error running back only 6 months to November 2013, I'm afraid there will be no 'Favours' - Would be different if error was over a year old
SP will send out a bill based on the correct Day/Night distribution, but your £600 credit will be set against the total.
There is nothing to stop you Switching when you want as SP will send you a Final Bill anyway0
