See Faxing in Windows XP.

Anything that can be printed can be faxed - text, graphics, photos etc.

When you install Fax support from Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components, it adds "Fax" in Printers.

When you've created your document, you click on Print, select Fax as the printer and it'll open up the send fax wizard and do its thing.

Interesting thread, sorry to butt in, but to confirm that I could draw a quick freehand diagram, scan it into PC then select the fax print.

Yep. If the program you're using has a Print option, you can use it.

Last machine workshop I went in didn't even have a scanner, just pc, printer and fax/telephone.
