I'm sure that you do dislike the argument as it's much easier to post and be vocal on an Internet forum being critical of others but you then admit that you would do the same thing as them. I hope you see that's being a hypocrite by you and the Leveller woman.I really do dislike this whole argument.
If I thought prices where £20k to high locally you would say sell at £20k less and problem solve, the problem is unless I could find a sell will to sell there £3ok over prices house at £30k less then I would be putting myself in financial trouble.
And again you admit you would do what every normal person would do. It's all a little bit difference in real life. It's very easy to claim the high ground on an Internet forum trying to be high and mighty being critical of others yet you would do the same thing in real life.In short I don't like the game but its either play it or rent so I see it as feeding the lessor of the 2 evils.
Selling your property 3 times local salary instead of market value is very difficult to do despite what Leveller or Percy say on an Internet forum. It says a lot about people when they wouldn't do what they preach.0 -
V good points and I guess that's my whole point to this thread - depending on what side of fence your on changes what you think/would do. We are all selfish to are own needs.0

do you think it would be worth someone taking the time to read more carefully?
I think it would have added to the debate better if you had read the post you were responding to as opposed to you have not.
I suspect you did read the post and couldn't debate any point succinctly:wall:

So yes if I wanted to move next year and my house doubled in value yes I would take that not earned HPI 'profit' as I would need it to offset the not earned wanted HPI 'profit' the sellers wants. As said this is the game and I have to play it.
Now here is the key difference, I don't want that to happen and I want the game I am playing to be fairer for all which means no rampant HPI.
So I could rent and feed the problem formt he bottom a fund a landlord and help them buy yet another house and fleece more young.
Is there a third option, is there a way I could both buy and sell both avoiding HPI when it is more than wage rises? If there is I will take it and if I don't you can then call me a hypocrite.
So in short if you are going to call me a hypocrite tell me how not to be one?
Good Luck

You and your ilk preach on this forum that you want house prices to be lower but that's only if it doesn't affect you and your future. That is all really lovely, but real life is a bit tougher than that, you'll have to get over it.So yes if I wanted to move next year and my house doubled in value yes I would take that not earned HPI 'profit' as I would need it to offset the not earned wanted HPI 'profit' the sellers wants. I want to get a brand new Range Rover but those pesky car dealers won't let me have one at the price of a Skoda. It's out of order and not fair. If that had been you, you would have been posting on Range Rover forums saying that it's not right and the price should be lower.
The options are irrelevant, you and the likes of Leveller, Devon, shortchanged and the rest of them all want your cake and want to eat it too, but only on your terms. Pretty sad really.0 -

You seem to be confusing things, I am saying on a local level prices are fair so I don't want them to rise faster than wages, I have also stated in areas where prices are too high stagnation is the fairest way to reduce the prices in real terms without hurting anybody.
Where did I day prices should be lower, I just said they should be fair.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

House prices being fair to Percy isn't the same as being a fair price to someone renting or someone trading down or even someone buying a 2nd home. You seem to be confusing things, I am saying on a local level prices are fair so I don't want them to rise faster than wages, I have also stated in areas where prices are too high stagnation is the fairest way to reduce the prices in real terms without hurting anybody.

Your moral compass is very skewed, you're critical of others but when it's yourself you don't want to contribute to solving the problem. Your selfish attitude is disheartening where you want 'fairer' prices as long as they suit you.0 -
I rented for a few months, had a mortgage for about 4 years, and then moved and bought for cash 30 years ago.
I didn't feel any attachment to a house which was mostly owned by a building society - that's really only glorified renting with a small equity stake.
I don't really care what house prices do. The house stays the same, and I stay in it. From a financial point of view the lower its value on my death the easier it would be for someone to inherit. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
