Purley or Three bridges or Horley

I am very confused between Purley (croydon borough), Three bridges (Crawley) and Horley (Surrey)
Does anyone know about this area much or live around there?
Which would be safer and cheaper for renting?
I have chosen those 3 places as I am moving because of my partner's new job (shift work) at Gatwick airport and the convenience of trains all night from these three places.
I have to live walking distance from the train station and I will be working in London (shift work too) and commuting which I dont mind
thanks

Thank you for your reply

My main concerns are a safe(ish) & friendly area.
Few main shops around.
Get more for the rent money.
Transport links.
