eBay or possibly CEX would be the best options for that price. You'd probably only be able to get an iPhone 4 for that price, 4s and above still command £150+

The iPod bit gives that away ;)

The "C" seems to be something they've added as its not part of the official model name, maybe a typo?

Apple dont sell refurb iPhones so your options are CEX or eBay etc. The prices are fairly volatile and depends a lot what you get with it etc. You may be able to pick up a working iPhone 4 for your target but it'll probably be without a box etc.

A iPhone 3GS will certainly be in your price range but then its almost 5 years old now.

Dont go for a 3gs. the new ios 7.1 wont run on it and a lot of apps being released now are designed only to run on the new OS.

An iphone 4 will run ios 7.1 fairly comfortably although you wont get all the bells and whistles like you would on the higher powered 5 series phones.

does he need an iphone? I have one myself and they are great but you may be better off getting a phone with android on it. more choice for your money!
