Hi All,
We are planing to move to Toronto in Canada, and wondering if you have any advice about the process.
I have looked into for few websites for house listing and they seem promising, same sites provide you some advice about mortgage as well. but what i would like to know is if UK banks are able to offer any compatative deals to buy house in Canada?
Any other comments about the complete buying process are more then wellcome.
Thanks in advance for you kind help
Cheers

get a canadian mortgage if you need one, you really dont want to be in a position where the exchange rate alters your monthly repayments possibly dramaticly.
also i doubt many banks will lend out there and if i recall canada's interest rates are lower anyway, best thing you can do is save up as much of a deposit as you can as banks over there will likey need a big one.0 -

Good morning: I suggest you take a look at the CMHC website (federal government info) http://www.cmhc.ca/en/co/index.cfm and also visit www.britishexpats.com Canada discussion forum where you will find valuable info about many things Canadian including housebuying etc.

Good morning: Take a look at...
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=459407&highlight=mortgages
post a query on that thread or start your own... also post your questions on the Mortgage forum on MSE for better coverage. I can't advise on UK mortgages for foreign purchases, I can only direct you to relevant information...check the websites of UK banks or ,better still, a couple of phone calls to UK banks should clarify the situation.

Hi
Surely the £100 000 would depend on where in Toronto. Toronto area is very large.0 -
Hi
A lot of people in our area are emigrating in my daughters class 10%. I feel very unsettled and would like to emigrate to Canada, which is where my maternal grandparents came from.
Can I ask what is motivating you to emigrate? No attacking at all, I am just wondering as I am fed up with UK, but my husband always says it is no different anywhere else.0 -
Yesgood luck if you do move to Toronto! I love the city I have been there a couple of times and I would love so much to live there!!!! I proposed to my girlfriend last year when we went for a holiday.
Like someone said above, it depends where in Toronto you are going to buy but I am sure you will find somewhere nice.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -
don't buy in a place called Lawrence And Jane or something. You'll get shot.0
