What gardening jobs did you do over the weekend?

Hello fellow gardeners.

What jobs did you do over the weekend?

For me it was rose pruning and general weeding in the front garden.

I dug over the vegetable patch in the back garden. The seaweed I dug in over the autumn has turned the soil a lovely black colour.

On another patch I've planted 60 sturon onion sets. Still got space left so back to the horticultural society on wednesday morning to get some more. Perhaps some shallots as well. Might try a different variety such as red baron or stuttgarter giant.

Pottered about in the greenhouse as well.

Today did more pruning and general application of fertiliser such as growmore and blood, fish and bone.

Working all weekend (the joys of owning a garden centre :) )
Still managed to get both lawns cut (and mosskilled) pruned a large Fargesia (and pulled it out of cracks in nearby paving), weeded one patio area. tonight I've edged one side of my smaller lawn. Come indoors because its dark. Better put mine & hubbys tea on now LOL.

Watching the news today I saw that garden centres have done very well lately due to better weather and a little more faith in the economy.

    Is that your experience?

Tidied up the edges of the lawn after last week's mow, general weeding and tidying, split a few plants, planted some more seeds indoors. Contemplated the shed door that needs planing and made an executive decision to ignore it.
With the piece de resistance being doing my back in trying to dig out an elder stump. Can't walk today and am seriously fed up of being a 7 stone weakling.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Weeded the onion bed. Raked the lawn to remove built-up thatch. Scattered some granulated fertiliser on all my pot plants. Chopped off all last year's fronds from the two ferns. Tidied away an old vegetable planter that was disintegrating because the plastic it was made from wasn't UV stabilised (cheap Sainsbury's thing).

Finally, stained a load of decking boards that I intend to use as edging for my flower beds.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Pruned apple and plum tree, took this years and last years branches and logs to recycle centre. Kept them for the scots bonfire but no one came to collect them and since local recycle centre is closing on 1st April trying to clear as much as I can.

Removed at least 15 overgrown lavenders, 10 roses, over 30 ash seedlings, cut them up to fit in bag, loading into car and several trips to the recycling.

£2 per trip in a small car, I can't believe the council say they are closing it to save money. Awaiting fly-tipping en mass thru out the village as the next recycling centre is about 20-30 mins depending on traffic.

Was going to do more today in the garden but very tired and arms hurting. Going to trial white vinegar on dandelions and overgrown grass some time this week.

    My word-

And I thought I've been busy.

    Well done!
