Idea for 11 year old's present £20ish

I wonder if you can give me some inspiration.
We have just discovered the big wow present for my son's birthday this week is now delayed and will not be here for a few weeks to come.
I am really upset as he has had a tough year this year, and would really like to give him something special.
So with the likelihood of him not having anything (relatives have put into the present for him so there will be no other gift) I am trying to think of a nice present around £20 that I can give him on the day, so he at least has something to open.
Does anyone have any ideas of something special?
Thanks

Does he know what the WOW present is? Can your gift be related to that, not knowing what it is though how about LEGO you can get a decent box for that price or something my LEGO mad son prefers are the mini figures at £2ish a pop you can get a fair few figures.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

What does he like?
Need something to go on here...What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
If his big present won't be here for a few weeks, I'd be inclined to give him a box of Malteasers (or other chocolate of choice) with a couple of nice crispy tenners wrapped round it, and an offer to take him down town to spend it. He's already having to cope with the disappointment of his present being delayed (even if it is fab and worth the wait:)), so I wouldn't risk getting a "nice-but-I-wouldn't-have-chosen-it-myself" present on the day itself.0

What kind of things is he interested in? Is there a favorite show or game series or movie or book he likes or does he have any hobbies?“I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.”

A day/trip/meal out somewhere he likes? Not a wrappable present but might be more enjoyable.0

I would suggest a nice trip out too. the weather is set to be good this week, so could you arrange a trip to the beach? or out in the country if he likes that? alternatively a trip to the movies or theatre? perhaps with one parent and he can treat a friend? or even take them, drop them off and let them be 'responsible for themselves?' you would pick them up after of course.0

Obviously don't know what the wow pressie is but could u do a fancy envelope with an iou for the pressie so that he knows its on its way.
Things my son would be pleased to receive include microsoft points or cash & the opportunity to spend it + nice lunch or tea out.

Thanks all, the wow is a games console. We ordered it weeks ago and it hasn't arrived and still no delivery date given, even though the website stated likely to be within the week. It is now out of stock everywhere else so can't go elsewhere.
He was told he would be getting it at the weekend as his friends had given him something to go with it, so we knew when he had his party that he would find out. We had planned to set up a special small room in the house to have as a grown up boys space for his friends to come and play, and thought we would present him with his surprise gaming room on the day, but without the console the wow feel just isn't there. Putting our old tv in the room and saying this is where you are going to have it set up seems a bit hollow now without the console.
We are planning on taking him out for his birthday and making a nice day trip of it, was struggling to know what to give him, but I love the idea of maybe buying him a book he has wanted and putting some money in the inside cover for him to have as spending money for the trip.
Thanks all0 -
Depending on what he likes - something to do, such as technical lego or a model to build?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
