Most of the information in it is inaccurate!
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

    Hi

We agreed with a third party company based up north to reclaim our council tax last year, they have never updated us on the status or even called us so we took into under our own devise to contact the council valuation office agency (VOA). VOA advised us after a few email s and calls they have replied within a month to say we were successful and we will receive a reduction and back dated refund.

Now the third party company have all of a sudden made contact to say congratulations you have been successful, so we signed a small form last year with third party for them to assist us, now we have found out that the VOA form has to be signed in order for anyone to gain access to our council tax information (under data protection act.) The third party have not signed this VOA so does this mean they cannot get any of the refund we are due? please if you can help as we are about to get an invoice to pay this company 50/50 which I am not willing to do.

    thank you again :j

Council Tax bands are in the public domain, they are not subject to the DPA. VOA don't actually need to discuss anything or go into details about your home if they agree the band should be reduced.

What exactly did you agree to on the form you signed with the company. The wording may be crucial.
