Can I Do This With Honeysuckle?

I bought a little honeysuckle plant today, about 8 inches tall, it's quite woody so from a cutting, not seed I would have thought.
I have ivy growing from a raised bed covering a shed and fence. Could I plant the honeysuckle in the bed and let it grow through the ivy, or will the ivy strangle it?
I do have somewhere else to put it if not.

I'd expect the ivy will win that battle!0

I have three lots of ivy on a large fence, growing over 7 ft high and very old and thick. In the middle is a honeysuckle - the ivy does not bother it at all - it looks lovely when it is in bloom too, throughout the ivy. It's spread as far as the ivy, in fact going further and weaving itself into a small rowan tree next door. Next door are happy with this, even though I offered to give the honeysuckle a good trim.
It's worth a try!0 -
You could - if they were planted at the same time. There is no way a small 8" cutting will survive in a mature Ivy.
Grow it on first.0 -
My honeysuckle was planted a lot later than my mature ivy, and not only survived but thrived. Obviously there will be specimens that do not, but if it was a cheap enough plant, I'd go for it.0

Yes, that's exactly what's going on in my head!
It was only £3, so I might buy another and give it a go and put the other one elsewhere.
It's a Belgica if that helps.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Early dutch honeysuckle - you'll probably be fine to plant it now then. Tough, and vigorous honeysuckle that grows just about anywhere. Prone to mildew so keep you're watering and soil moistness consistant.0
