This Devolo pair, moreover, adds wi-fi (dual band, 802.11b/g/n, at that) to the triple 650AV Ethernet LAN on the distant unit, making it pretty much the ultimate solution at the moment.

Make sure you buy them from the UK site, with British and not Euro plugs, though!

    Cheers

Those devolo ones look good but they are expensive!

It seems to be £85 just for one (on amazon) but wouldnt i need one connected to the router (upstairs) and then two connected downstairs in each room (as i have sky boxes and pc's, playstation in different rooms)

So in effect, shouldnt i be looking for a triple pack?

I thought about getting that with my 650's but my router gives WiFi coverage throughout the house so it would have been a bit of overkill.
Great idea though for those with weak WiFi in some areas.
I might resurrect the idea and use it in the garden socket if the summer is any good. :D

Just a question / an aside for the experts how much throughput can I expect using 650/500 mbps powerline adapters compared to my 300mbps wireless ?

You can buy Develo 500 AV Triple adaptors which allow you to connect up to three devices to each plug.
I have had these for two years and I thoroughly recommend them both for speed and reliability. Not the cheapest option, I agree.

Yes, if you want them all connected via Ethernet.

    Thanks

What other way is there to connect them?

I was planning on running cat5e cables from the plugs to the devices downstairs...

    You could extend your wireless.

If you do that you don't need powerline connectors at all!

If you got a WiFi enabled adapter to extend the wireless range as well, you could still connect some of your devices via WiFi.
If you want them all hardwired then you just need to connect them to an adapter in each room.
