The epetition has over 220,000 signatures
If it has tyres or testicles, it's gonna give ya problems..

The story's on Yahoo, I think.
No point going over and over what's been said already, but I don't think the fault lies with the age group of the screening "invites", but with the lack of adequate care she received after reporting her symptoms, so I won't be signing the petition.0 -

Largely because people sign without really understanding what they are agreeing to

If this goes through it will hammer the NHS's already limited resources.
Research needs to continue into screening for younger women.

Sophie's choice is to change the age and give women the choice to get checked regardless of age, not because every 16 year old girl in the country should be screened, but because any woman who is suffering from symptoms such as these should have the choice to rule out any possibility of it being Cancer related. If it has tyres or testicles, it's gonna give ya problems..

It won't, clinical decisions aren't made based on petitions or public opinion thankfully!0 -

Yes, they should and in fact they do. It's unclear why this didn't happen in Sophie's case

And they do. Something terrible went wrong in this case, and the GP I suspect is on first name terms with their defence union rep. But changing the policy on screening for asymptomatic women would not help.0 -
I had a smear at the age of 21 because my doctor thought it was necessary. I never got the results. I asked my doctor why and he said it was thrown away and never tested because I wasn't 25. Crazy.
I went for my first ''official'' smear the day after I turned 25. Couldn't get there quick enough. It came back normal, thank heavens. I don't know why I was so worried about cervical cancer.
I do think the age should be lowered to about 21 though. My Wins: £150 Next giftcard. Rimmel Lip Gloss, Benefit Lipstick and lipgloss. Rimmel Day2Night mascara. Elizabeth Arden Body Treatment Cream.
