Netting and top soil questions

I'm still a relative newbie to grow your own, but I've just made a couple of wooden raised beds in my back garden, and will be ordering some top soil now to fill them.

I've already realised that netting is going to be essential. We have some pigeons perching on a neighbours house and they've already pecked at the shoots of strawberry runners (bought on T&M offer via tesco vouchers) I've potted up in an old chimney pot.

I've been looking at netting and cane connectors on amazon and other places, but it's quite confusing as I'm not sure what size mesh I'll need and the better cane connectors seem quite expensive. I'm going to be growing courgettes, beans, kale, leeks, etc. And raspberries in another part of the garden.

Any suggestions for where to source netting and supports? As this is in my garden, rather than an allotment, something that looks reasonable is preferred. Any suggestions also re top soil supplier appreciated (I'm in Manchester).
