I've had the Andrew James Premier Digital halogen oven for about eight months now and use it almost every day. I rarely use my main oven now. I thoroughly recommend these ovens; they are cheaper to run than a main oven and far far easier to keep clean!
totally off topic, but I noticed in your sig that you have made a wheelchair would you mind giving me some details on how you made one, I am always cold in my wheelchair, thanks0 -
Hi Homealone - here is the free (!) pattern for a crocheted wheelchair wrap. It's a really easy pattern and the wrap really does sit on the shoulders without falling off. I've made two so far; it's a lovely pattern.

Thanks to Homealone for asking for that pattern and to Mioliere for linking to it. Think this is just the thing for my mum who spends most of her day sitting in an armchair reading/doing sudoku :T.0

I'm really pleased to be able to share the pattern; all credit to the lady who designed it and gave it away for free! It's one of the most rewarding things I've made.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

I bought a Halogen Oven last year from Ideal World after about 4 months it stopped working. The switch has worn a hole in the casing and it will no longer turn on. They are still selling them despite the fact that a few people have had this problem.
My mother bought one and we both had this problem. I am trying to get my money back.
I am going to buy one elsewhere as there are good but don't buy from Ideal World
my mother got a refund
replacement means another one which won't work
it's annoying as this is my main oven as the one in my house is an electric and is part of the house (private renting) and I can't get on with it at all (use to gas)0 -
I had a Team Visicook halogen which had "hot spots" and didn't cook evenly; it was great for grilling but you couldn't bake a cake in it.
The bowl broke and for Christmas I got an Andrew James digital halogen with hinged lid. The difference is amazing - the food cooks evenly and cakes bake really well. The hinged lid makes a huge difference when there is not a lot of space and you can still use the extender ring.
It does cook quicker than a conventional oven and you can reduce the heat as with a fan oven. There is no need to pre-heat so uses much less power. Overall I am really pleased with the Andrew James halogen, although the previous one I had was not brilliant so bear in mind not all are equal.0 -
I absolutely LOVE my halogen and I use it almost everyday and for everything. It I so much more economical to cook a couple of chops in than heating a great big oven space, there is no waiting time either as it's at temp almost instantly.....my oven needs a letter two weeks in advance that I would like it to warm up!! it's great for roast spuds, grills, kebabs, roasts, the only thing I don't do in mine is steam veg. But, if you are looking for a dinner in twenty minutes then use a halogen. Can't recommend it enough.Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

I've just bought the Andrew James with a hinged lid, it's amazing.
If you skewer meat it cooks even faster because the metal conducts the heat into the middle of the joint.0 -
I like my little halogen, and don't use the "big" oven as much as I used to. It does lovely baked potatoes, and I've successfully cooked a small joint in it. I also use it for toasted sandwiches, heating frozen yorkshires, and it's good for grilling bacon, sausages and fish.0
