Stiff cupboard door hinges

I go to bed with a perfectly functioning cupboard door in my kitchen and wake up to find the door hinge won't open more than a about 6 inches. It's the second door it's happened to and I can't figure out why? They are both next to each other, kitty corner. The last time it happened was about 3 or 4 months ago and it now doesn't close fully.
Can I expect this to happen to all of my cupboards one by one? I am renting. Will a squirt of WD40 work? I know nothing about DIY so don't want to force the door open in case it falls off or something.
Any ideas welcome.

A bit of WD40 on the hinges might help and it's pretty unlikely it would do any harm.
Is the kitchen relatively new?
I'd be wondering if something in the fabric of the kitchen or building is settling/moving which is putting pressure on the doors.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0
