O/S Daily Monday 17th March

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

    Happy St Patrick's Day.

Back to usual dash for work at stupid o'clock so it's a hi and fly visit.

LW - Hope you are feeling a bit better and am very glad you currently have a gentle doggy visitor to keep your spirits up x

Will try and pop back later to catch up on everyone's news. In the meantime, I send usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, very cloudy overcast with a bit of a chill in the air but dry.

DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.

Dinner last night was a frozen pork joint that you cook from frozen, new potatoes, carrots, peas, broccoli and gravy. Wanted something which didn’t take too much work as I wasn’t sure what time we would get finished at the promotional event but we weren’t too late and then DH went back with our friend to take our caravan in as it’s having a couple of jobs done. We’re going away this next weekend so that’ll be good. The same people who we’ve been with this weekend will be with us next weekend. – hoping the weather stays like this – yesterday was beautiful sunshine all day although did get a bit breezy at times. We’ve sat outside the whole weekend – I don’t remember many years when it has been warm enough to do that in March! Yesterday was a much quieter day but still spoke to several people and some had been on Saturday spoken to us – joined via internet when they got home and then came back yesterday to say we’ve joined and look forward to seeing us on the rally field!

Back to work for me today – I’m expecting another manic Monday but it keeps us busy!
Trying to keep busy as it’s definitely helping my mood, I’m just going to potter along doing jobs without putting pressure on myself so I don’t get overwhelmed, if I try to push too much I finish up in a panic and nothing gets done.

I will put a load in the WM today and then hang it out in the morning, I’m trying to use the washing line as much as possible whilst we’re having dry weather.

I’m now going to get a shower and then some brekkie, and get ready for work.

    Keep safe and well x

Wet here (for a change!). Washing will have to go on the airers. Yesterday was lovely in Edinburgh, sunshine and a gentle breeze, not the usual biting wind you get in Edinburgh. Had a great day with DD, we went to the car boot sale which is massive but nothing caught my eye which is very unusual.
Had a mooch about a couple of shops which was ok as we weren't looking for anything in particular, went for lunch (proper Chinese where all the Chinese people eat) had another wander and then came back.
Managed to change the paint (I bought silk instead of matt) and then actually did some food shopping. The fridge looks quite healthy now, just need to find the motivation to cook.
Chap coming to measure for the bedroom carpet today after work and then painting for me again. Managed to get DD a bed yesterday too, just popped into a shop near the supermarket and there it was!!
LW - Hope you are feeling brighter this morning, pleased to hear you enjoyed the opera.
Hugs to those feeling under the weather. Take care. XX

Hugs to Molly, I hope things get easier for you.
    LW, take care.
Off to work soon, not feeling very inclined though as hubby's shifts are being altered every couple of days & last night he got called out to an alarm ringing, so we had to go up there for a couple of hours. There will be 'discussions' about this today as the engineer who called him out said that his name was on the 'rota', what rota, the school it too tight to pay for a rota payment. Hey ho, good fun ahead.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning Morning,

Hope everyone is okay - hugs to those who want/need them.

What a lovely weekend!! We were very social, dinner at my dad's on Friday, he's given us the most generous wedding gift, which we are putting towards doing stuff we'll never get the chance to do normally. So greatful.

Had new gas and electric bills in, gas is up by £10 and electric is now only £10 a month!!! New Council tax bill came in too, but due to the amazing deduction in our electric bill, it's cancelled out an increases, so very pleased.

In addition to this, I was £140 in credit with my electric bill, so have requested a refund and this will pay for our personalised wedding converse, very excited to order them when payment comes in.

And more good news! I lost 1.5lbs this week, 5lbs total after doing weight watchers for 2 weeks yay.

Dinner is jacket potato and lunch is salad.

love and hugs to all! x

    Morning

Little bit overcast again here today and temp feels a touch cooler. Think we are expecting some rain later in the week, hope it passes though as we are wanting to get on the allotment again Sunday.

OH had done my sandwich for work today so just had to chuck some fruit in my bag which was good :D Took all our recycling out, and emptied the dishwasher and re-filled with breakfast pots this morning.
Started work at 9am and here until 5pm. Still quite steady here, do wonder if something is happening behind the scenes we don't know about.

Tea is almost ready for tonight, beef pie (made with yesterdays dinners leftovers), just need to do some chips when I get back and know when my OH will be getting home.

Happy vibes to those in need and Happy Monday to all:j
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:
    Mum to two boys :heartpuls
  • I had to pop down town and put a prescription in this morning and had a little mooch around the few shopsthat we have left in the town. Didn't by anything but it was nice to get away from the house.

DD should be home from work soon she was on early shift this morning. She starts her second job at the zoo on Thursday, it is only seasonal, but it will give her enough to start driving lessons.

    Dinner tonight is Chicken Jalfrezi

    LW and Molly ((((gentle hugs))))

Off for a potter in the garden
