ERUDIO student loans help

I received a letter from SLC about them being non compliant and giving me reduction on my
mortgage style student loan. The loan is stated as for the years 1995, 96 and 97.
I've not made any payment in the last 6 years or at all, as I've never met the threshold for payment.
Moved to it's own thread.

HOWEVER yesterday they took £ out of my account - when I called it was due to a technical problem and I would be refunded in 5 days. Will this end before the next period of deferment comes round ...........
Don't wait 5 days - go to the bank and get it back today under the Direct Debit guarantee rules.
Here's where I am up to in this mess -
I have a letter saying I am deferred (although what is that worth?) but have still not received a reply to my complaint (apart from 2 'holding' type letters) or my CCA request. They actually received it on 24th April (not 20th as I wrote previously)so their 8 weeks is up now - if my maths is correct.
I have downloaded the forms to complain to the FOS. I am complaining about the Erudio form and the attempt to make us fill this in and thus change some of the terms. I also complained about the customer service/delay in processing and the extra details they requested.
I just need to decide who else to complain to now.....
I guess I am lucky that they haven't taken any money from my bank account - yet - like some very unlucky people who are actually deferredKeep fighting people.

Not sure if I'm dreaming but I've just had a competent, pleasant phone call from a lady at Erudio!!!
First of all if you get a call from an 'unknown' number that is quiet when you answer it could be them. I usually hang up those calls cos it's 'BT' telling me I have a virus!
They were calling to query my 'arrears', I got my bank to refund the DD money they took in error earlier this week, I have proof I'm in deferment, from them and SLC until next year. I explained this and that they have signed for a letter with copies of my deferment approval. When I asked if this meant they accepted I was in deferment she said that she could see that they had a letter but that she needed to talk to IT to be able to read it! She cleared my 'arrears' and is looking into the letter.
I'm not overly hopeful that they will not take money again next month.
Five minutes later she called back!! She'd looked at my letter and my attachment didn't show the end date of my deferral. I had sent two enclosures because their 'notice of assignment' doesn't show a
date and SLC's does. It seems that Erudio IT only bothered to scan one enclosure! She asked me to scan the one with the end dates and email it. We'll see what happens now.
She did say that if you email them you have to include in the body of the email your full name, address and date of birth so they know it's you and won't ignore it! lol.
She (her name is Shyloh and she's American) also confirmed that if you have loans with other people, like Thesis, SLC will send out deferment packs and they will send the details on to the various places. During my initial phone call to them a month ago (which was horrendous) I was told they would send out a deferment pack, this never arrived and it seems that as Erudio will have had to ask SLC to send the pack out SLC saw that I'm in deferment and knew I didn't need a new one and didn't send one (at this point I may be shouldn't have told her I loved her, she kept apologizing for Erudio and she knew what she was talking about)!!!
It's a waiting game again now, but a slightly less desperate one. I would almost say that they may have had a kick up the butt from somewhere.
I don't know whether to kick something :wall: or have a cocktail!!:dance:0 -
While drinking my cocktail I had another call from Erudio asking for Louise **, my name isn't Louise **.
Off to find something to kick.0 -
I am thoroughly sick of this company!
Everything they tell me is lies and BS. As has been noted, they seem to invent new rules as they go along.
I've e-mailed my forms to them several times and their response is to say I haven't sent it, or they haven't received it, or I didn't sign it, etc. And they respond to me by second-class mail to Canada, which takes two weeks to get here!
I am way, way under the deferment threshold, but I'm sure they'll find a way to try and BS it out of the way. I am NOT paying them £84 a month that they're not due, just because they paid SLC £200 to buy my loan!
Just wondering - seriously - what would the ramifications be of me just telling them to eff off, cancelling my DD on my UK account and letting it ride? Could they actually come after me in Canada? I've heard that all they can throw at you is a CCJ, but I don't live in the UK any more, so what county? I've also heard that they can sell the debt to a Canadian collector, (which could mess up my credit rating), but I've also heard that that would be illegal as it breaches identity protection laws.
I don't want to 'stiff' anyone, but still, feeling like I've made so much effort here and they don't want to know.. It's like dealing with the mob.0 -
The BBC's 'You And Yours' programme is running another piece on Erudio today. Radio 4 at midday.0

I really can't say anything about what you should or shouldn't do in your situation.
It's surprising you are emailing stuff in and they are still having problems with your application. You could potentially email everything in one email so you are sure that just the one person deals with your case.
I don't know if the Financial Ombudsman can help you if you live in Canada either, but you could give them a try if you are unable to solve things directly with Erudio?
I hope this helps.0 -

You'd think, huh?
Apparently, whoever receives their incoming e-mail WILL only look at one at a time and (even if you say in that e-mail that there's more to follow) will only look at that single e-mail and will pretend that you didn't send the rest of your information, even if it blatantly says 'to follow' or something. Their e-mails are also completely anonymous and the only correspondence e-mails they will give are 'deferment' or 'customer service'. (Writing to either of which draws down their standard "we will respond within 21 days" BS e-mail, which is ridiculous.. "we've changed our rules again, back of the line.." )
I have heard so many lies from these people now. I have acted in good faith, but all I can say is that you should RECORD EVERY CONVERSATION WITH THEM as they contradict themselves so much.
I feel like they're being purposely obtuse so that they can somehow pretend you haven't fulfilled their criteria and then go after your bank account. I'm not sure in my case if they want it to go to collections so that they can try to sell the debt internationally.
This has been hanging over me for two months now - trying to satisfy a bunch of pirates who just want my money. It's seriously Pi$$ing me off. With SLC, it was a single correspondence every year and that was it.0 -
Erudio on You and Yours again today, as mentioned by Jonez, and its around 38.40 in http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b046nvxv
Someone called Georgina Hayes was speaking for them. Anyone know who she is and if she works for Erudio or Capita/Ventura/Arrow? Anyway, she said, as a "responsible lender" Erudio "will" report loans to CRAs...however, who have they "lent" money to? They are a debt management company officially, but are a collection agency, so saying they are a responsible lender treating customers fairly is a slight lie i think. Can they be deemed a lender officially...anyone know? I need to know this as part of for my ombudsman complaint.
The CRAs will be informed from what she has said, so we need to all keep complaining now and not let up because it will become an issue very soon i imagine. Time to start peppering people again with mails/updates...
She also touches on the childcare issue but i think they still have a wall up & they arent letting any light in.0 -
Well, i found out who Georgina Hayes is, taken from Arrow Global Guernsey Holdings website:
Tom Drury, Chief Executive of Arrow Global, commented:
"We also extended our relationship with Experian and increased our proprietary PCB database to 13.4 million records at the end of June.
"We are committed to remaining at the forefront of the industry for compliance and risk management and our continuing progress in these areas was enhanced through the appointment (... &) Georgina Hayes to Director of Operations. Under their direction, our preparations for the transition of our principal regulatory body from the OFT to the FCA are progressing well."
