You've posted the wrong answer for the bottle rocket comp.

I didn't see the posts but it's not true.
Nothing to stop anyone running a competition that is only open to bloggers or FB users or twitter users etc etc

As much as I hate linking to that article, I can't find the other right now.
Basically, anyone holding a competition on a blog SHOULD have a non-following way of entering (For example, comment on a post).
Not to say they all do though
Thanks to all posters :A0 -
I love the last line on her page:-
'' I'll be delighted to share it for you - as long as it's not voting!"

Bloggers are getting in trouble for excluding compers so no it isn't 'ok' to include such rules.Happy Comping All!0 -
The owner of the blog never once mentioned "compers" .0

Cheers,selene16
Great links.
I just puzzle over this perceived dislike of "compers".
When is one a comper?
After ten entries per day or after twenty.Maybe it is after 100 per day?
It's just a pastime & let us all get along :-)
No problem
It started with a few bloggers and has snowballed from there, most have the perception that compers are just in it for the prize and will not ever read their blog and while I know there are some compers like that, I know from personal experience the vast majority are lovely and often some of the best commenters / promoters you could ask for.
Most also don't realise that the CAP code / ASA rules exist and often are missing standard things like T&C, full end date including time etc.
Most of the time it is just ignorance and naivety to it all and if you have a chat with them point them in the direction of the right links and who they can speak to all is ok.
I guess I can see it from both sides of the fence, though I do wonder why you hold a competition to bring in new readers then alienate a whole community.
Anyway I'm ramblingHappy Comping All!0 -

Please do ramble :-)
I just wonder as to the archetypal comper definition :-)
It will be most of us :-)
Grabbers that we are:rotfl:0 -
I have to admit I would love to know the answer to that question myself.
I've always pondered the thought as well that surely anyone who enters any number of competition be 1 or 1000 is a comper as they have entered something, so surely you are therefore disqualifying anyone who enters. (Sometimes I over think things lol)Happy Comping All!0
