I suppose it's the question (again) of our own motivations for entering comps. Only we really know why we enter any given comp. I only enter for things I want to try or know I will use, but I have a TW account mostly used for giveaway RTs, though not solely, but would almost certainly make my account one of these so-called "giveaway accounts" that I've seen mentioned in other blogs as being not allowed to enter.
I can see why it might be hard for a blogger to host comps, especially when they're paid for with their own money. They have to draw a line somewhere, I guess, if they are keen that only true followers of their blog can enter. To be honest, I don't know why they don't offer their comps only to those who are following them on TW, BL, or GFC before the start of the comp. I guess the problem is publicity.... A 'quiet' / current followers only comp wouldn't attract the extra hits that the bloggers want in order to get the PR companies to supply competition prizes etc...
It's a shame we can't all have our cake and eat it, isn't it?! :cool:0 -

And I suppose my point earlier about british companies only giving prizes away to british residents, is a bit like Bloggers (apart from comping bloggers) the reallife bloggers do want to be followed and become well known as it could lead to something huge, so naturally you would want the prize to go to someone who may promote you buy from you or whatever, rather than a person who just enters any and every comp going and alot of the regular winners sell stuff on ebay as a way to earn income.
Fair enough i suppose, personally i only enter for something i or my family would like but never just because i could flog it.
Either way im one of those who couldnt really careless if i miss a week or two comping because i cba.

So why the need for personal abuse to Kim for doing exactly that ?0 -

Doesn't offend me...
Agree - however, unfortunately, she can't just decide who can and can not enter her giveaway. On the last "Blogger calling compers names scandal" I posted a few links which said somewhere that, by law, you couldn't not allow someone to enter just because you say so!
I would look again but I'm too tired. And, to be honest, I don't care what other bloggers opinions are of myself, or other compers.
I comp, I blog, if I win something I want - great, if not - never mind. I believe if it's meant to be it will.
Maybe others need to take a step back and think about using their time more productively
Thanks to all posters :A0 -

That's not true, there is nothing to stop anyone running a competition that is only open to bloggers or FB users or twitter users etc etc.0
