TV sound issue

I've just bought a new Samsung 39F5000 tv which I'm using with my Humax 2000T freeview box. I'm finding that when I turn off the tv to go out or whatever, when i turn it back on again there's no sound. I'm assuming it's something to do with the tv as it never happened with my old tv.

Just wondered if anyone would know why this is?

Keep the Freeview HD box volume level at full and just use the TV's volume control on the remote to guage your levels. Is there a auto volume level in your tv menu sound settings? Turn this off and see if this helps. This also has a horrible habit of boosting volume levels on quieter material which is irritating! To improve the onboard sound quality of your try TruSurroundXT or Spatial modes in the sound settings;these expand the stereo soundstage of programming quite wide, and on programmes with stereo left and stereo right dialogue and/or sound effects, can give a wider more stereo-like perspective.

Have you read the manual from cover to cover to establish if there's a menu setting that controls the volume behaviour on start-up?

With HDMI connection my tv volume can only be controlled by the tv remote not the humax one. If I connect box via scart lead then all can be controlled by the humax controller.
