Balance transfer Lloyds to Nationwide

Family member is trying to transfer balance from Lloyds Bank credit card to new Nationwide credit card.

After giving the card details Nationwide said that the process was a manual one and would require the account number, sort code and address of Lloyds to complete the transfer.

Is this normal? If so would the account number and sort code be the one on the pay in slip that comes with the credit card statement?

Thanks

Don't know how common it is, but the answer to the second question is YES. I hope they won't fail to quote the card number as a reference as usually it's the same account for all CCs.

Great, thanks. Yes I did think about that myself but hopefully all will be ok. They'd be pretty incompetent if they managed to miss that crucial information.

I did a Lloyds to Nationwide in October and it was done completely online without needing to speak to anybody

Maybe Lloyds and TSB split has something to do with it

All sorted now, apparently it's something to do with it being a Lloyds Duo card which comes with MasterCard and Amex.

Thanks, need to keep this in mind as I'm planning to get the duo cards soon and BT after 1 year.

Do the Amex and Mastercard have different card numbers? What did you have to do to get it sorted?

Hi zerog. Yes, on our credit card accounts which include an American Express card and a MasterCard, the cards have different numbers.

    Thanks

It was my mum who was transferring so I didn't speak to them but she called up, they asked who the provider was and when told it was Lloyds asked if it was an account with two cards. At this point they said that because of this it had to be done manually and he asked for the account number/sort code used when paying the credit card as well as the card number. There was some confusion here as it has the two numbers but it appears Lloyds use the Amex number as the primary account number and therefore the reference number for payments so she gave this number and told them the balance to transfer.

The first person she spoke to didn't explain what account number/sort code were required nor why they were required hence my initial question. The process also explains why the BT wasn't available online.

    Hope this helps.
