Hi
Has anyone heard of Nordtec?

I have some items of this make which I think are chainsaw safety clothing but I'm not sure and I can't find anything about Nordtec safety clothing via Google.

I did google and thought they were part of Husqvarna so emailed Husqvarna who said they weren't.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks

If it's safety clothing and relatively recent, it should be labelled with the class rating somewhere, otherwise I'd be wary.

Another indication might be if the material is layered. My chainsaw trousers have 9 layers, for example. However, this wouldn't be conclusive, as there are other reasons for layering.

I 'd guess you have already found this:

When you say class rating, what exact word/number system do they use?

Ask over on the arbtalk forum. Lots of specialist knowledge there.

EN381 is the standard throughout the EU.

So EN381-5 for trousers and EN381-11 for jackets

Trousers are either Type A or Type C with the latter giving protection to the whole leg, not just the front, but the material is also rated for resistance to cutting on a scale from 0 to 3.

I'm not sure where the material strength is normally recorded. I can't find it on my trousers.
