Is it possible to invest funds in a savings account (preferably that pays interest) and get a debit card to use on that account ?
I don't want to use an Indian bank !!

There used to be some but none now that I am aware of. Is an interest paying current account not an option?
How are you planning to use the debit card?
For withdrawals from ATMs the Yorkshire BS Online Saver pays interest and has an optional LINK card. This is not a debit card.
For purchases there are prepayment cards but these pay no interest and have hefty fees for withdrawing cash from ATMs and usually for loading funds other than by transfer from a bank account. Also some shops, such as ALDI, will not accept prepayment cards.0 -
Numerous interest paying current accounts to choose from.0

It is for a few thousand - savings, that lived in the Coventry for a few years - I need it in an instant access account and wondered if there were any accounts with a debit card attached
We have a current account (Nationwide Flex) - so no regular payments will be made into it !!
Does the Post Office not offer any suitable accounts ?0 -
It's very difficult to give decent suggestions when people say such vague things! For example, how many is a "few"?...£3K?...£10K...£75K?It is for a few thousand
So you'll no doubt be aware that you can have 3 Nationwide FlexDirect accounts between the two of you?We have a current account (Nationwide Flex)
That'll take care of £5K of your "few thousands" and give you a debit card.0 -
I am aware of savings accounts that have a debit card, but not sure about ones that pay much interest.
In this day and age of clever phone apps and transfers completed within an instance (subject to fraud checks), it's not that necessary for a debit card on a savings account, is it?0 -
Could you list, say, 2 or 3 please (not 'current' accounts that pay decent interest)?Everynamestaken wrote: »I am aware of savings accounts that have a debit card0 -

a lack of interest is not a deal breaker.
The issue is that this is likely to be a one off lump sum payment.0 -

The issue is that you are set on it having to be a savings account and won't even consider the option of one or more current accounts for your lump sum.
As has already been commented, there are plenty of current accounts that pay relatively decent interest, and obviously they all come with a debit card.
Plenty of people on here use current accounts as a place to park their savings.0 -

But don't current accounts generally require minimum regular payments into them - £500 - £1000 ?0
