Was looking for the ask anything questions thread but I notice it's not been used since the end of Jan and I'm sure many have asked questions since then
So I kinda had to start a new thread ... Sorry
Quick q then if I may ... Roughly how much mince should I need to feed two adults ( over weight so need to loose weight ... But like to feel full )
I bought 1kg of mince last week and it lasted two meals ( so four all together) it seemed a but too much tbh 500g per meal =250g per person per meal
Would 150g per person per meal be too little though ?

I'm no expert, but we have a 250g pack between two of us and that's without bulking it out with anything. We used to have double that but I haven't felt deprived!0

Thanks polly bear will try the 150g and see how we go, that 1kg of mince could've done three meals with a wee bit to spare if we had, instead it did two and was too much but we didn't want to waste it so ate it
Now to try am work out the cooked weight of mince compared to uncooked for batch cooking0 -
I think tbh portion control is a big issue for us and something we need to get on top of0

A 500g pack of mince, as Bolognese sauce, will make Lynne & I 2 meals or 4 portions.
For chilli con carne, there is a 400g tin of beans. You might be able to squeeze an fifth single portion out of this.
We use 75g (dry) of pasta or rice per person.
PS. I've lost 4kg since last October. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

My mum (the fount of all wisdom, of course) used to say 1/4 lb of meat per adult, which is 113g. Vegetables are good for feeling full! But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

So 125g as well
Maybe will try cutting it down to that then as that would be 4 meals ( 8 portions) making it even cheaper
Never thought I weighing pasta ... Is that dry weight or wet weight ?0 -
Cross posted theoretica sorry ... It's no wonder were fat then if were eating double the recommended amount
Hmmm maybe I need to look into other things as well then0 -
We buy 1.5kg of mince and split that in to six meals worth (so twelve portions). So roughly 125g each per meal.
That said I've just used one block along with 2 fair sized mushrooms, 1.5small onions and a handful of frozen veg and made the filling for three decent cottage pies.
Do you usually add to your mince (e.g. adding veggies) or do you tend to have just mince and a sauce?************************************

I use 100g mince for two people per meal and bulk it out with diced carrots, onion, tinned tomatoes and sometimes kidney beans.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. We tend to do both ... If it's mince and tatties sometimes it's just mince oxo and bisto an someone's we add carrot and onion ... If it's bolognaise we always tend to add garlic, mushroom and onion along with the spices
We have veggies on top of all of the above as well
It seems like were very big eaters by the looks of it0
