I've put a 2100 mAh re-chargables in a couple of mine and they now last all night (10 hours).

With the cheaper solar lights it is often the Solar Panel that is defective rather then the batteries, so check the panel before spending money on lots of new batteries

Can you test if the Solar panels are defective. How long should solar panels last I would have though there were quite simple and should have a good shelf life and should not go wrong. Perhaps someone could verify my view or I am talking a load of "Tosh"

If a new battery does not work ,How can you test if the Solar panel is defective or not. What other fault could it be if it does not light and can it be easily repaired or are we in "A throw Away Society" here!!!

Stick the new battery in a charger... your other thread may help. ;)

When charged, put it in the light fitting.
If it now works, but didn't before, it is the charging circuitry in the light fitting at fault.
