ANother npower billing problem - anybody come across something similiar ?

Transferred my gas supply away from npower in August 2013
& final bill generated in October 2013
Kept my electric supply with them as still the cheapest
This month (7 months later) I find a new gas bill from npower added onto what should be just my electric account (online)
The new gas bill is from a period last year that they did not originally bill me for due to glitches in their billing system ie there was a unbilled for 'gap'
( furthermore the new bill generated is wrong as I should have received a £50 direct debit discount but its missing )
My question is as follows :
Are Npower within their rights to charge me on what is supposed to be an electric account only for their gas billing mistake so long after I have left them & after they have produced a 'final' bill
Taking into account the £50 billing error that has to be rectified then this 'new' bill will only be about £16 so its not a big amount but I am still pretty annoyed at what has happened
ANybody had anything similiar - would ofgem side with npower ?

n'power are most certainly entitled to bill for an earlier period that was missed off
your regular billing - They can go back 6 years to correct billing errors !
The Gas bill debt being listed on an Elec. bill, is possibly explained by the Switch away of your Gas supplier and closure of the account, which leaves n'power with only the Elec account for billing
None the less, however odd the bill presention is, it still must be paid
BUT
If the bill isn't accurate because it's missed off a credit discount, then it doesn't have to be paid until it's adjusted to the correct value.
It's important that you WRITE a letter headed Complaint , setting out the correct figures for this bill - Do not rely on a phone call or Email0 -
If the back billing code applies then pretty sure it would be the 1 year rule & not the 6 year rule - the bill is for gas used within the past year unfortunately
Still to be convinced that this code still applies AFTER you have transferred your supply away from them & AFTER production of a final bill0 -
Suppliers can't win - plenty of people write to this forum whingeing when 'common sense' practices like this are not deployed.0
