bursary

Hi there
My daughter was given a provisional bursary of 80% to go to a private secondary school. We then had a visit from their people who make sure you can afford the payments. He said that the bursary was already set at the 80% amount for this year but may change if my circumstances change.
We recieved a letter today stating the bursary is now 50% which we are not going to be able to afford. My question is can they do this and it is proper? I only ask this as I will not be earning the same this year as I was last year.

Thanks in advance

  • The bursary isn't guaranteed and will depend on the school's income and also on your own income. Contact the school bursar straight away and explain that your income has changed/will be changing - they may ask you to fill in another application.
