Data f nearly full

Hi
I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 laptop and the data F is very full (in the red)
I have only got 450MB free of 147GB
Just wondered if anyone can tell me how to free up some space.
I have deleted loads of old files (pictures, music etc) but it hasn't made much difference.

f: is full, full of what? backups?

install and run ccleaner and wiztree to delete temp files and find out what's using the space

turn off system restore on that drive

if it's still full, delete or move stuff then empty recycle bin
    !!

I have deleted loads of stuff already and emptied the recycle bin.

"f:". Sounds a bit strange unless it's an additional drive, memory card, flash drive or similar. I have C: and E: (Data) on my old deskop running XP, I think though could be Vista. The OS splits the one drive into 2 thus C: and E: with mine. What OS are you running?

    Many thanks "Closed"
    Wiztree did the job brilliantly.
I had never heard of that programme, but it found absolutely tons of back up files which were taking up most of the space.
I deleted them all, and now have 142GB of free space :j
  • For future reference, keeping backups of your HDD on the same physical HDD, albeit on a different partition, would have been of little use if the drive died. Keep future backups on a separate, preferably external drive and do not leave it permanently connected.
  • I had no idea that they were there...and I certainly didn't put them there.
It must have been an automatic back up.
