Big big thank you to Morrisons - they are willing to bone meat that you buy as packaged on the supermarket shelf. For me it was a shank of lamb - guy took it opened it up, took out the bone, offered to de-fat and dice.
Suggested took bones with me for stock and if not ready to do immediately I could freeze them.
How good is that!?

I don't buy meat often but that does sound an amazing service to find in a supermarket partly because I wouldn't have expected the staff on the counter to actually have butchery training."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

Morrisons butchers are brilliant, and their meat is all uk sourced.
When whole salmon is half price in Asda l ask them to fillet it for me which they do, and they re weigh it afterwards so l don't pay for the head.
Happy moneysaving all.0 -

why do you not want lamb shank on the bone?0 -
Morrisons butchers are not butchers at all and simply chop up meat hey get from vac packs, have you ever seen a cow in a field in a vac pack? And their meat is NOT all uk sourced no matter what they say on their ads most of the pre packed stuff is not from the UK. And to add Morrisons meat is by far the worst quality meat on offer from any supermarket!
Had to correct that for you, I am someone who shopped at Morrisons for years BTW
If any of the things Morrisons bleat on about are important to you such as "proper butcher" etc then support your local butcher and not some fake one working in Morrisons!"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -

A local butcher may (only may - I've known some shockers!) be better than any supermarket, but Morrisons' meat is very considerably better than that sold by the other major supermarkets, with the exception of Waitrose. It is also extremely well priced in comparison.
I'm extremely fussy about meat and Morrisons has really impressed me in this respect over the last year or so.0 -

Albeit the 'fake' one obviously has some form of training and is in employment earning a wage (and being fleeced for tax, NI etc).
I would love a local butcher back in our high street, the butcher and fish manger went long before I was living away from home. Sadly there is no chance until the rates for stores in my town are reduced.

I watched the guy butcher it - he knew exactly what he was doing and removed bones with economical knife movements - his knife was extremely sharp.
He was a young guy - and must admit I sort of doubted him at first but his ability at getting that bone out totally told me I was wrong.
Cooked the curry and he was right!0 -
I was not going to roast this - it was for curry. In India/Pakistan probably would have used mutton.
Morrison guy recommended (Welsh) shank as it would be more flavoursome.
I am a Waitrose shopper (lol yes middle class asprational) but to be honest Morrisons whacks Waitrose around the head - although Waitrose does promote 'forgotten cuts' which I applaud.0
